The first team tournament of the fall was played on Saturday with 72 players. Once again, there were many evenly matched games and exciting finishes. Watch the videos and see the photos.
The next volleyball tournament will be played on November 1, when it will be time for table games and overall competition results. Registration is now open: see more information or go directly to register. This year, there will also be a team tournament on December 27.
This time, the tournament was divided into a semi-final series of eight teams and a competition series of four teams. Suvit and Peksit advanced to the upper rounds of the semi-final series A with four set wins, while Samien and The Ayazesien each won two sets. The winner of Group B was Reimat, which lost only one set in the preliminary round. Second place was decided by a margin of five points in favor of Seijo, with Paavo advancing to the lower semifinal with three set wins and Lidio finishing last with only one set win.
This time, the lower playoffs saw the closest matches, as both the lower semifinals and the placement matches had to go to three full periods before the final standings were decided (5. Paavot, 6. Lidiat, 7. Samit, 8. The Ayazes). The upper playoffs were also hard-fought, but all ended in 2-0 set victories. Reimat, who had been undefeated, faced its conqueror in the final, with gold going to Suvit (Suvi S, Sami L, Jarmo K, Petr A, Caroline K, René S) and silver to Reimat (Reima N, Minna S, Riina N, Petteri M, Jarkko S, Nina L). Seijat (Seija H, Aylwin C, Jaakko P, Riina M, Maija P, Olli L) took bronze.

In the competition series, Tomit won five out of six rounds in the preliminary series and Jarkot only one, but that was against Tomeja. The pair were also neck and neck in the semifinal, but in the end, Tomit went to the final with a 2-1 victory. The other semifinal was also a thriller, with Terot narrowly defeating Annat 2-1. In the bronze medal match, Jarkot seemed to run out of steam, as Annat won the match quite easily, securing the bronze for Annat (Anna K, Hannu-Heikki T, Jarkko M, Ilkka V, Risja N, Timo H).
The final was a thrilling match between two slightly depleted teams. Unfortunately, one player from each team had been injured during the tournament. Tomit had recruited Ayazi from the semi-series to replace the injured player, while Tero decided it was best to leave the roster unchanged and play with five players. Tomit won the opening set 21-13 and looked set for a clear victory, but Terot came back from behind to win the second set 23-21 in extra points. In the third set, however, they were unable to come back from behind, and so gold went to Tomeille (Tomi K, Mari K, Niko L, Petra BAN, Kaarlo K (replaced by Ayaz K in the final), Jani L) and silver to Teroille (Tero J, Kati K, Jone V, Aki B, Antti J, Juha K).

Thank you once again to everyone for a great tournament! Here is a photo gallery of the tournament, with great photos taken by Mika Heikkinen:
Overall tournament standings
As usual, team tournaments also earn overall competition points, so the standings changed slightly before the final competition, i.e., the volleyball tournament to be played on November 1. In both competitions, the situation for the leader improved, as the second-placed competitors before this tournament did not participate. On the other hand, in the Peippaaja competition, Riina closed the gap on the leader by winning the silver medal and earning an impressive 35 extra points, compared to Jussi’s fifth place (20 extra points).
Before the final round in both competitions, there is a clear favorite, but surprises are not entirely impossible.
